A Day on the Lake

The Adventure Begins

My girlfriend's family and I set out on the lake from this dock. We’ve used other boat launches before however this is our favorite due to ease of access. Unloading the boat from her parents Tahoe took no time at all. We've done this a fair amount of times this summer. We've gotten to the point we have it down to a science each person knows what to do. Her Dad Backs the vehicle in the water, Her Mom helps guide her Dad and my Girlfriend and I get it off of the boat trailer once it's in the water. We all eagerly got on the boat for a day of tranquility and relaxation.

The Adventure Begins

This was our view from leaving the dock. Personally I really enjoy this photo as a says a lot. It marks the beginning of something for a lot people. This is what everyone sees when they set out on the lake. We all settled into our seats on the boat and my Girlfriend and I began to prep our rods to get ready to fish once we found a good spot out on the lake. We rode towards the center in hope of finding a quiet spot.

The First Catch

After taking a stroll around the lake for a short while we settled on a spot to throw out our rods and wait. After a short while my girlfriend and I chose to make fishing today a competition. We wanted to see who could catch the most fish today. And with that our competition began.

A Fierce Rivalry

Our competition began in full force At first it seemed that I would be the clear victor by a landslide I had already caught 3 fish before she had caught one. I vividly remember myself saying “Marissa how many fish have you caught so far?” We’re both very competitive people, this all in good fun. Alas this banter of mine would soon prove to be my downfall as she began to start getting bites soon after.

Back & Forth

After she caught a few and we began to go back and forth with the standings for our competition we decided to move the boat, to see what we could get on the other side of the lake. After getting to the other side we had went in being tied at 5-5 for the day. She quickly rose up to 7 mere minutes after getting to the dock. Her trash talk came in full force. “Are you sure you’re doing it right? You haven’t caught anything in a while.”

The Final Tally

We sat at 6-7. She was up again, nearing the end of our time on the lake. The emotions reached an all time high we both really wanted to win this. I reeled in this small mouth bass thinking I could come back and win this. It would in fact be my last catch of the day. Shortly after being tied at 7-7 she caught another fish ending the score at 7-8. We both had an amazing time and in the end I was really happy that she won. As she was ecstatic that she beat me in this competition. It makes me happy to see her happy, and I’m glad we both had an amazing day on the lake.
