TRANSITION TO SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT IN THE CELAC REGION

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A RESOURCE NEXUS APPROACH

1 in 4 people do not have access to safely-managed drinking water (161 million people) and even more worrying is that 7 out of 10 do not have access to safely-managed sanitation (431 million people)

An annual investment of 1.3% of regional GDP between now and 2030 would make it possible to universalize access to safely managed drinking water and sanitation, which could generate up to 3.4 million jobs per year

Current investment efforts must be increased by 14 times to accelerate implementation and achieve SDG 6 by 2030
