A huge thank you must also go to our departing student leaders who have achieved so much over the past academic year. Led by Kacper, the student leadership team have organised charity fundraisers, increased the profile of the student council; attended external schools to promote opportunities for young women to become leaders and acted as exemplary role models to the lower school. Well done and good luck in your next steps.
STMCA CULTURE DAY
This term, STM, hosted our first 'culture day'.
A request of the student leadership body, the 10th July saw students embracing their identity and culture. Students led stands in the main auditorium; with a broad range of cultures and nationalities represented, including Poland, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Serbia, Canada to name but a few.
Zagros in Y12 proudly represented and educated others on his Kurdish heritage, even bringing a 6ft flag of Kurdistan.
Others such as Adeline, Nadira and Charlene dressed in the traditional attire of their respective Indian, Bangladeshi and Filipino cultures.
Y13 LEAVERS MEAL
We said goodbye to our Y13s with a leavers' meal at The Quarter @ The Potbank on Thursday 6th July.
All in Y13 have worked incredibly hard this past year and we hope to see them rewarded for their efforts on A-Level results day on Thursday 17th August.
We will miss you all very much and we were glad to celebrate your time in sixth form with some great food and company.
SIXTH FORM
MENTAL HEALTH AMBASSADORS
Well done to six of our Y12 students who have completed a training programme ran by Gemma and Shereen from the NHS to become mental health ambassadors.
All will use what they have learnt from the programme to become mental health champions for STMCA in the 2023-24 academic year.
A fantastic experience for Nura, Betiel, Amina, Rahbot, Zara and Gillian who took part in the programme. We look forward to seeing you channel all that you have learnt into real life scenarios.
SIXTH FORM SUCCESSES
Congratulations to the sixth form students who have achieved recent successes. If you have achieved any recent success which you would like to share, please let the newsletter team or Mr Myatt know.

MMU PHILOSOPHY AND ETHICS TRIP
The Y12 Philosophy and Ethics class were given the opportunity to visit Manchester Metropolitan University and gain a taster lecture and seminar session from Philosophy Senior Lecturer, Dr Paul Giladi.
The session revolved around the topic of Epistemic Injustice, giving the philosophers the opportunity to put their classroom debating skills to the test, to discuss with one another, a range of arguments and opinions related to social power.
Following the seminar, MMU provided a guided campus tour to allow for an insider view of the facilities and accommodation available at the university. A wonderful opportunity to find out more about what higher education has to offer.
Thank you Dr Paul Giladi, Dr Marie Molloy, Mr Aston and Mr Myatt for making the trip possible.
A particular highlight of the trip for the students was visiting the Archie's Burger and Milkshake restaurant for a late breakfast. All were stunned by the number of Archie's establishments which were passed whilst in Manchester. 'They're everywhere!' cried Tamjeed.
DAVID CAMPBELL SOCCER
TRAINING CAMP IN PORTUGAL
Our David Campbell Soccer students spent a week in Vilamoura, Portugal at a football training camp. The aspiring footballers had the opportunity to play against UK national youth players, as well as Portuguese professional and semi-professional sporting stars.
At the Brown's Sport Resort, students were able to take full advantage of the state-of-the-art sports facilities where in the past teams such as the England National Rugby side and Club Football sides such as Luton Town, Oldham Athletic and Hibernian FC have trained.
Y12, Alfie Brown, was particularly excited to meet Sporting Lisbon striker, Paulinho.
Thank you to the David Campbell Soccer team for providing our students with this fantastic experience.
