"I just want to be an anarchist in pink," Chanel tells me, as she begins cutting out the pattern for her 'Dream Dress.'

"Clothes aren't all of who you are, but they can communicate how you want the world to see you and what you stand for," Chanel explains of her approach. She pauses to sew a patch onto springtime green gingham with a quote from Nabokov's Lolita: 'I was a daisy fresh girl.'

Chanel's clothing invites the wearer to step into a dream world, where feminine silhouettes serve as a canvas for frills and sparkles that unapologetically tango with feminist messages. Fresh from a recent breakup, she's given herself a deadline: six weeks, two dresses, no contact with her ex.
