1.4. The Competition is conducted in the ordinary course of Media24's business to promote the News24 brand and digital publication.

1.5. These terms and conditions (the "Rules") govern the Competition and are available on the Competition website and from the National Consumer Commission on request.

7.5. Any consent given by a winner who is under 18 years of age (including consent to the use of their image or participation in marketing) is invalid unless confirmed in writing by their Parent/Guardian.

8. Intellectual property and use of artwork

8.1. The Entrant (through their Parent/Guardian) retains ownership of the copyright in their original artwork.

8.2. By submitting an entry, the Parent/Guardian grants Media24 a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to:

Media24 will not publish the Entrant's surname, photograph, or other personal information without separate, specific written consent from the Parent/Guardian.

8.4. Media24 may select additional entries (beyond the three winners) to showcase on the Competition website. The licence in clause 8.2.1 (display on the Competition website) applies to all entries submitted. The licence in clauses 8.2.2 and 8.2.3 (merchandise and marketing) applies only to winning artworks, unless the Parent/Guardian provides separate written consent for additional entries.

8.5. The Entrant and Parent/Guardian waive any right to inspect or approve the final form of any merchandise, marketing material, or publication featuring the artwork.

9. Use of image, marketing, and right to decline

9.1.3. an invitation for the Entrant and/or Parent/Guardian to be present when winners are announced.

9.2. Any consent to the above is entirely voluntary. Declining any or all of the above will not affect the Entrant's eligibility to win or their right to receive a prize.

9.3. No rule of this Competition requires any Entrant or winner to participate in marketing activities, permit the use of their image, or attend any event as a condition of accepting a prize.

10. Data protection and privacy

10.1. Media24 processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and its Privacy Policy, available at media24.com/privacy/.

10.2. The Parent/Guardian's consent under clause 3.1.3 constitutes the "prior consent of a competent person" required under Section 35(1) of Popia for the lawful processing of the Entrant's personal information.

10.4. Purpose of processing: Personal information is collected and processed solely for the purposes of administering the Competition, including verifying eligibility, judging entries, notifying winners, awarding prizes, and displaying selected artworks on the Competition website.

10.7. Sharing: Personal information may be shared with:

10.7.1. other entities within the Media24 group;

10.7.2. third-party service providers engaged by Media24 to assist with the administration of the Competition (such as the Competition website platform provider or prize payment processors), solely for the purpose of administering the Competition; and

10.7.3. any person or entity where required by law.

Media24 will not sell or rent personal information to any third party.

10.8. Security: Media24 implements appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to secure the integrity and confidentiality of all personal information collected, in accordance with Section 19 of Popia.

10.9. Rights of the Parent/Guardian: The Parent/Guardian has the following rights in respect of the Entrant's personal information:

10.9.1. to request access to and a copy of the Entrant's personal information held by Media24;

10.9.2. to request correction or deletion of inaccurate personal information;

10.9.3. to withdraw consent for further processing at any time, which will result in the Entrant's withdrawal from the Competition (and, if applicable, removal of their artwork from display); and

10.9.4. to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za) if they believe their rights were infringed upon.
