Engaging Equity & Inclusion

Creating an inclusive workplace requires more than intention—it requires participation. In 2025, our people contributed to our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts by lending their voices, time, and leadership to initiatives that foster belonging and expand opportunity.

Through education and community building, our firm continued to strengthen a culture where everyone can engage fully and authentically. This work reflects our belief that inclusion is both a shared responsibility and a critical driver of excellence.

2025 Success Stories and External Engagement

Engagement Summits

We hosted in-person summits in Washington, D.C., and in Seattle. Our sessions were facilitated by Ifeoma Ike, author of “The Equity Mindset,” who led participants through an interactive workshop focused on how attendees could individually advance the culture within their respective organizations. The session focused on developing a personal “North Star” and highlighted how individuals can collectively support each other’s goals.

DEI Monthly Education Series—Purpose

The theme for our 2025 DEI Monthly Education Series was "Purpose". Each session tackled various themes related to purpose, including justice, advocacy, storytelling, impact, and more. Our events centered on celebrating heritage months while engaging more deeply with issues of race, equity, inclusion, and justice. Some event highlights include:

Women’s History Month

We welcomed New York Times bestselling author and “America’s Government Teacher,” Sharon McMahon (The Small and Mighty). We tackled how women impact systemic change, and how to navigate hardship and social change.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Award-winning poet and “Solito” author Javier Zamora joined us to share his harrowing story of traveling to the United States from El Salvador as a nine-year-old child. During the program we discussed his book and how his experiences connect to current events.

Pro Bono Week Partnership

We partnered with the Pro Bono & Social Impact team and the Equal Justice Initiative, led by attorney Bryan Stevenson, for an emotional discussion with Anthony Ray Hinton. Hinton spent 30 years on death row for a crime he did not commit, and during the program he shared his story as well as his thoughts on system reform.

Growth Pillar Engagement

Pre-Law Diversity Fellowship

The Pre‑Law Diversity Fellowship provides guidance, exposure, and structured support to college sophomores and juniors interested in pursuing legal careers. Open to all students committed to advancing a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive legal profession, the program creates early access to the legal profession while strengthening partnerships with clients who share our commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In 2025, 13 Fellows were partnered with client mentors and participated in a Virtual Academy. The sessions focused on developing career pathways and connecting with lawyers, the law school admissions process, and success in law school and beyond.

Our Fellows developed relationships with lawyers, enrolled in a sponsored LSAT prep course, and discovered their path in pursuing a legal career.
